Panipuri Competition — Official Rules
Quick answers
The most common questions about the Cup. The numbered clauses below are the full official rules.
What is the Panipuri Competition?
It is a panipuri eating contest run by Suleman Usman Mithaiwala Restaurant LLC, Dubai, UAE. You pay AED 10 for an attempt, eat panipuris under the watch of our branch staff, and your count goes on the branch scoreboard. Whoever records the highest verified single-attempt count in a calendar month wins AED 1,000 in cash.
How much does it cost, and how many panipuris do I get?
AED 10 per attempt, paid in cash or by card at the counter. That one fee covers unlimited panipuri for that attempt - you eat as many as you can. Yes, you can try again: each participant may attempt multiple times across different days within the same month.
Is there a time limit on my attempt?
No. There is no timer. You can take as long as you like at the counter and eat as much as you can - the only thing that counts is how many panipuris you finish, verified by our staff.
What time does it run, and on which days?
Every day. The contest window opens at 4:00 PM and runs until the day's panipuris are sold out, which is usually around 10:00 PM. Come early to be sure of a plate.
Which branch can I take part at?
Our Bur Dubai flagship at Meena Bazaar, Al Fahidi. A Business Bay branch is opening soon.
Do I need to book in advance?
No. Just walk in to our Bur Dubai branch after 4:00 PM and pay at the counter. There is no online ticket and no sign-up.
Who can take part?
It is open to walk-in customers aged 18 and over, of any nationality. You will need a valid government photo ID for verification and to collect a prize. Employees of the Organiser and their immediate family are not eligible. Pregnant individuals and people with health conditions are advised not to participate.
Is it safe, and what if I cannot finish?
Taking part is completely voluntary and at your own risk. Please eat at your own comfortable pace and stop whenever you want to. The Organiser is not liable for any health consequences arising from voluntary participation, and pregnant individuals and people with health conditions are advised not to take part.
Do I have to post my attempt on Instagram?
Yes, if you want it to count toward the monthly prize. You must record your own attempt clearly showing the number of panipuris you eat, upload it to your public Instagram account, tag @sulemanusmanmithaiwala, and add us as a Collaborator on the post. Submissions without proper tagging do not count toward the monthly prize.
How is my count verified?
Your panipuris must be eaten under the supervision of branch staff for the count to be official. Our house staff verify and log every attempt on a manual scoreboard at the branch. If the video record and the staff count ever disagree, the staff count is final.
What is the prize, and when is the winner announced?
AED 1,000 in cash every month, awarded to the participant with the highest verified single-attempt count for that calendar month. There is one monthly prize. The winner is announced on our Instagram on the 1st to 3rd of the following month.
How do I collect the prize if I win?
You can collect it in person at the Bur Dubai branch on production of your original photo ID, or we can transfer it to a UAE bank account on your written request. The prize cannot be exchanged for goods or transferred to a third party.
What happens if two people finish on the same count?
If two or more participants have the same highest verified count, we hold a live tie-break at the Bur Dubai branch within 7 days of month-end. Travel and incidental costs to attend the tie-break are the participants' own responsibility.
What could get me disqualified?
Tampering with the count, regurgitation or any unsafe eating practice; disruptive or disrespectful behaviour toward staff or other participants; fake, edited or AI-generated video submissions; and failure to provide valid ID at any stage.
